1994-1996
Peanut was running around a softball complex as a cute, tiny little puppy. We took her home and looked for her owner. No one ever claimed her. Oh, how happy that made us in the long run. She tried our patience as a pup, but became one of the best dogs I've ever owned. She was a hearty little terrier mix and nothing scared her. But, she was the ultimate lover. She was the one that welcomed all the new dogs at the house and made them feel at home. She'd scoot up to them on her belly and roll over and wave at them. She never met a dog or person she didn't like.
She became "daddy's girl" very quickly. She even learned how to climb an extension ladder to "help" him trim branches. She loved her squeaky toy and would play with it for hours. Her favorite game was when Rich tried to "steal" her squeaky.
I taught her how to slide at the playground all by herself to amuse the kids. And, oh how she loved kids! I regret deeply that I didn't know about agility when she was here. What an awesome agility dog she'd have made.
We lost her so suddenly, and well before her time. The hard lesson was taught to take today to hug and play for tomorrow may never come. Our hearts ache in your absence "Wing-nut". May you run free, and be made whole again!
